. . . I know my Supreme Government is the eternal Kingdom of God.
My circle of friends and I ran a drug manufacturing lab, and the local police had an idea what we were doing. My partners and I lived on the east end of a small town. The road made a loop from the highway around through some of our property, then headed back to the highway. Between me and three of the other people I ran with, we had the last 18 acres of town. The road was public, but we put gates up across them anyway. Due to some of the things we had done in this place and many of the surrounding towns we had a pretty bad reputation, and people, including cops, thought we were absolutely insane. I believe they were correct in their assumptions. They were fond of going home at night so they didn't push us too hard. They (the police) would drive up to the gates, if the gates were closed and we were there, they would usually sit outside the gates for a while then turn around and leave. If the gates were open they would drive through. If it happened to be one of the officers we knew and got along with, then sometimes we would talk to him. Some of us were on parole or probation, so we naturally tried not too push too hard either.
One time we were gone on a dope slinging trip that lasted about three days. When we got back the sheriff's deputies had kicked the door in on my partner's home and had taken all of our guns that we had left there. At this time, you see, we always packed heat, but you can only carry so much personal protection, so we kept a lot of guns everywhere we went. Well, we saw that the weapons were gone, and that the cops had left their card on the kitchen counter, so we looked around the property to see if they found our lab or drugs. It didn't look like it. They only found guns, one fully auto, and a set of scales. The fully automatic weapon alone could have earned someone a ten year stretch in the federal penitentiary. We decided, "So what! What were they going to do" So we got in the truck and went to the little town next to ours. We were delivering an ounce of crystal to someone. We saw a local cop that we knew. My partner pulled in the parking lot of the convenience store and got out, dope in hand, grabbed the officer and yelled "Which one of you ?*?*suckers stole my guns?" He said, "It wasn't me, friend. I told them not to go messing around with you guys. . ." He didn't come around us for awhile after that. We eventually started talking again. We always got along prior to this incident. After a while we did again.
On another occasion one of my friends got paroled out of the state prison. He was on house arrest at this time, but he knew how to rig the phone and monitoring device so he could leave without getting in trouble. A friend and I drove the approximately 150 miles from our hometown to his, to visit him and try to work up ideas for getting some cash flow. I gave him a pistol that another friend had given to me. I told him something was wrong with the clip; it miss fed once in awhile. He loaded it, took it outside and shot it a few times. . .it worked fine. Then he loaded it back up and we got in the car and headed to the bar, which was now owned by the wife of one of our previous partners.
This guy (the bar owner's husband) was under investigation for foul play in what was thought to be suicide at the time, (I still don?t know what happened). Plus he had been busted two times by the feds for drug manufacturing. Both cases were pending so he was probably not the best company to be around. My partner was talking to this guy about getting something going on so we could all make some real money to build our empire. About then this big guy with longer hair than I had looked over at me and said "Look at this long-haired b????. What are you doing here?" I said, "Drinking. What are you supposed to do in a bar?" Then his partner asked my copilot what his name was. He said, "god." The guy went, "Excuse me? What did you say?" He said "You call me god!" Well, needless to say, the fight was on. It ended, (at least we thought it was over) with them outside beat up a little but not bad.
So we went in to have a few more drinks. We all received one round on the house.
The owner had just given us our round on the house when the door came open and they came back in with a shotgun. The one I gave the pistol to grabbed the shotgun out of their leader's hands and broke it open. It wasn't loaded so my partner hit him in the head with the butt of the shotgun. The owner of the bar (actually the owner's husband) had an aluminum bat by this time and he said, "You guys know I can?t have any more problems here." So we took it outside and my friend grabbed their leader, pulled out of his jacket the pistol I had given him earlier that evening and yelled, "? You want to be a man?" Then he pulled the trigger. The guys eyes were about to pop. The gun went, click; a misfire. I thank God for that misfire. I wonder sometimes if that was divine intervention that saved us all that night. I certainly was not thanking my crazy friend. By this time my copilot had pulled up and we jumped in the car. The cops came but they went past us and by the time they knew what was going on we were long gone. We had done all this in a borrowed car, by the way. The moral of this story is twofold: Stay out of bars! And more importantly, Do not loan me your car!
These are just a couple of the many true stories I have that involve lawlessness, anarchy, vigilance, guns, etc. We were involved in a lot of illegal activity and I can't or won't tell you most of it or be very specific, but I did want to show where I was coming from when these two poems were written. It wasn't a good stable state of mind. If you know me now, this stuff may be hard to believe, but it is true. God is real and I know this, because there is no logical explanation for me to be alive except for God's sovereign intervention. As I look back at the things I used to do it is unthinkable to me now. I couldn't force myself to act like this if I tried. It's unbelievable to me that I thought my life style was so great and the only right way to be. I was my own boss or at least I thought I was. Now I can not even dream of being that way. Talk about a new mind ..... I've got it! For this I am truly thankful.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5: 17.
This grace and peace can be yours. But if you choose not to listen to the living word of God don?t fool yourself into thinking that the Bible is silent about your fate. God is just and upright, He will show you mercy, but you will never be able to recognize it unless you ask Him for it. One of these two contrasting texts applies to you which one will it be.
Vengeance is Mine, and recompense; Their foot shall slip in due time; For the day of their calamity is at hand, And the things to come hasten upon them. Deuteronomy 32:35.
