The sparkles, the glitter, the glowing in the dark
The people walking, hoping to make their mark
Lives changed in only a moment or two
Lasting only but a minute and then it’s through
Oohs and wows go rushing through the crowd
The pops, explosions, the sounds are so very loud
Great expectations of what one will see
Hoping for joy, excitement and glee
Yet, looking upon the beauty of what was all around
Listening to the people and all of the different sounds
Thinking once upon a time I enjoyed all of this
The laughter, the joking, all of the bliss
But now as I sit here thinking of only what Jesus did for me
How He paid the price of my sin on the cross of Calvary
That the beauty of a rainbow, the sunset, the sky
Used to touch my heart greatly, leaving tears in my eyes
So now as I gaze upon the lights bursting in the air
The explosions of sounds and greatness of flare
I kneel down beside my chair and call upon His name
For without Him near me, it just isn’t the same
Life seems to drag on like as though I am standing still
No more excitement, joyfulness or thrill
Just knowing He is unhappy with me, brings me to tears
Thinking I have hurt Him greatly all of these years
No More I shout as my heart aches with pain
For without the presence of You in my life
Life just isn’t the same
Psalm 73:25, “Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.” (KJV)
