I knew a guy in Iowa that made his living by selling lightning
rods. He quickly learned not to get caught in a storm with an arm
full of samples.
Here in our part of Florida we have what seems to be more than
the average brief power outage. They are usually only about a 2
second flicker, but that could be enough to damage a computer if
not protected by a Surge Arrestor. Surge arrestors are effective
for that purpose but not of a lot of protection from a direct
lightning strike. Pulling the plug is the best protection, AND be
sure to disconnect the phone line -- modems are a weak spot.
Christians have the ultimate surge arrestor in Jesus Christ -- no
need to pull the plug here. Every now and then, sometimes quite
frequently, Satan strikes us with his darts, but if we are plugged
into Christ, we have a shield for protection from the attacks. For
that reason we need to keep our relationship with Christ active
and sure. A friend of ours used to say, "Keep a short account
with God." That's good advice.
Here's more good advice -- Eph. 6:16 (nlt), "In every battle you
will need faith as your shield to stop the fiery arrows aimed at you
by Satan." Take that to heart and live by it. Do you need a faith
lift?
