On that bright and sunny resurrection morning when Martha and Mary went to the tomb where Jesus was buried, they were no doubt still weighed by enormous grief. But when they saw that the stone was rolled away and that Jesus had risen just like he said he would, that weight was lifted and they had a renewed hope. A renewed spirit.
No matter what you are going through in life or how hopeless your current situation looks, Christ is still capable of rolling away the stones in your life. He is the only hope that we have in this life. We are not just mere pawns in a chess game he is playing with Satan. We are His created beings that he loves and wants to help. The question is: will we allow him to help us? What price will we pay to place our total and complete confidence into his plan for our lives?
When the stone which was placed at Jesus' tomb was rolled away by an angel, it wasn't rolled away to let Jesus out but to let people come in to see that he was gone. A stone could hardly keep Jesus from his divine purpose, just as the obstacles in our lives are not enough that Christ can't match or surpass. For certain, we don't always have the best of circumstances to deal with in this life; however, any of our troubles in daily life is insignificant against the backdrop of eternity. Eternity will far outweigh anything we face in this life. It's hard to comprehend that now but when we are on the other side of this life, we will understand everything. Things we question now will be answered on the other side.
While we are living in this world, in our fleshly human bodies, we face a multitude of challenges to our faith and to our human abilities to handle them. Nothing is hopeless. In this earth we face the oppression that is caused by sin and the sinful state of this world. Satan will oppress us in any area he can. Isn't it amazing that we are never challenged in our strong areas? It is the weak areas that we have the most difficulties with.
If you feel trapped in your life and looking at situations which seem there is no way out, remember the you have an advocate - Jesus Christ - who stared death right in the face and won! Surely if Christ defeated the sting of death, he is more than capable of turning your life's situation around. Instead of feeling trapped, you can find freedom in the assurance that he is on your side. He is capable of moving the stones in your life too. Sadly, we will try everything else and when we have listened to Satan's lies and false promises and our life is a total mess, we realize that Christ is our ONLY solution. Why make him the last resort in our failures of life? If we would learn to make him our ONLY resort, we will spend less time digging out of the graves of bad choices upon bad choices to regain life!
Rolling away the stones in our troubles isn't easy but it takes that first step of commitment. It looks difficult and the weight is tremendous. On our own strength it is tremendous and impossible for us to do on our own but through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can have the breakthrough in our problems. Rolling away the stone is the first step, the next step is us walking out of our situation and taking one step at a time. We can't expect it all to happen in one deliverance prayer. We must allow our lives to become sensitive to the "light" and take the daily steps to gain our balance in the new person we have become.
All of us have our "stones" that need to be removed. It isn't a disgrace to admit that we do have obstacles and limitations in our life; however, the disgrace comes when we give up and submit to being sealed up in the darkness of that obstacle. We can't allow the stone to become our excuse to why we can never move from glory to glory in our spiritual walk. Your stone may be lust, a lying compulsion, addiction to illegal or prescription drugs. Whatever the stone, we have one that we can call upon who is ready to help us. He is a gentlemen. He won't force his way in, he will only remove the stone if we ask him. Is there a stone in your way today? Call on him. He is faithful and will lead you out of your tomb!
