Walking through the tall, carved doors,
a sweet sound stung his ears,
a heavenly choir of angels singing
is the first sound that he hears.
Hand carved maple benches
in perfectly straight rows,
and lovely stained glass windows
Everywhere he goes.
He walks up to the giant cross
and gets down on his knees,
folding hands and thanking God
for everything he sees.
“While I’m here, dear Lord,
if you have the time today,
there are several other things
for which I’d like to pray.”
“Please, Lord, heal my daughter,
who’s so sick she can’t walk,
in fact, she has to whisper,
‘cause she can’t even talk.”
“Please put a stop to war,
and those who steal and lie,
and any who harm others,
even if they have to die.”
He finished up by asking
for forgiveness for his sins,
he walked outside and saw
his daughter walking up to him.
He was so thrilled he hugged her,
while kneeling on the ground,
but, suddenly he noticed they
were the only two around.
