BIOGRAPHY OF GOD
"A Written Account Of SomeONE's Life"
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Gen. 1:1. The ENTIRE UNIVERSE. It is BIG. VERY BIG. Absolutely awesome. "For HE spake, and it came to be; HE commanded, and it stood firm." Psalm 33:9. "But they deliberately forget that long ago by God's Word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water." 2 Pet. 3:5. "By faith we understand that the Universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible." Heb. 11:3. Do you find it interesting that the only way one can accept these truths is by FAITH. They can not be proven or disproven by any of the modern methods at our disposal. Simply put, God did it all!
But how do we know God and know about God? Well, HE authored a book that we can read and understand. This all-time best-selling and most-produced book, the Bible, fits the purpose of making known the life of God, hence the Biography Of God.... "Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit." 2 Pet. 20,21. God used men (and women) to write it, likeminded men and women. "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and instruction in righteousness..." 2 Tim. 3:16. King David's testimony: "The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me; HIS word was on my tongue..." 2 Sam. 23:2. In talking with folks on this subject, I always wonder about this thought: Sure, God created the Universe they say, but, no, HE couldn't write a Book.
Which leads us three basic kinds of people: (1) those who deny God's intervention in the Universe, and therefore deny any claims by God on their personal lives, (2) those who readily believe in a Sovereign God as Creator, but still keep HIM at arm's length with regard to any personal interaction in their lives, (3) those who believe by FAITH in the MAJESTY of God and the REALITY of a personal relationship with HIM via HIS Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
There is a great movement in play today to minimize or to eliminate (imagine that!) GOD HIMSELF. Being "politically correct" is steamrolling throughout our culture. Apparently, FEW are finding GOD and HIS TRUTHS worth having or fighting for. For centuries, the Lord Jesus Christ has been the centerpiece of the Christmas season. Is HE being nudged out or just plain shoved out? I hope all of you will join me in exalting HIM this Christmas. Thank you. Leon. And...Merry Christmas.
