Hands lifted to the sky
Faces bowed to the ground
Stillness, reverent silence
In the presence of the Almighty God
Weeping, wailing
As men realize their depravity
In the light of His holiness
Their sinful stains versus His white garments
Total surrender
Complete weakness
The realization, the experience
Of worship in the presence of the Father
Men gaze at the great white Throne
And are blinded by its holy light
They hide their faces in shame
“Woe is me!”, is their cry
The power of His holiness
The greatness of His glory
The wonder of His beauty
Are too much for men’s carnal eyes
Ah! Fall on your faces
Weep in sorrow for your sins
Sons of men, rend your garments
And roll your bodies in the dust in shame
Oh, that we would be hidden
From the fiery gaze of those holy eyes
Lest their fire consume us
And we become as chaff in the flame
Ah, but what is this I see?
The Holy One is standing, not saying a word
His arms outstretched toward us
His eyes … they … no, it can’t be … but it is
Those eyes are filled with compassion
Speaking softly, He says “Come”
“I have paid the price”
I see the nail prints in His hands
Men arise from their knees
Stumbling, stretching, reaching out to Him
They begin running to Him, all ages and races
They too can see it!
Oh and now again
They fall at His feet
Weeping, washing His feet with their tears
And what do I see?
An exchange of garments
The heavy garment of sin and filth lifted from their belaboured necks
And a fresh garment full of beauty and glory
Laid on them to adorn their mortal bodies
Comfort for suffering
Joy given for mourning
Peace for trouble
He is restoring us!
Praise be to our God
The Creator and God of all flesh
Worthy is He to receive all the glory
All the power and might above and below are His
This is what happens
In the presence of the Father
When we submit to His Spirit
In the attitude, atmosphere and offering of worship
He draws us near
He washes us with the blood that flowed from His wounded side
He gives us a new garment for the old
He restores our souls
Blessed are You, O Lord our God
Great is your loving kindness toward men
Thine is the Kingdom, the power and glory, Eternal Rock
Forever and ever. Amen
