There is one thing
No man will ever experience
Until he is freed from the shackles of selfishness
And that is true love
One thing
A man cannot show
Without having first known
Is true love
How can we know love
Without first knowing the One whose Name is Love
Who is love
And who created love
Therefore, this is the first step
To setting the heart free to love
It is to come to Jesus in total surrender
Surrender to His unfathomable Love
Let Christ be the centre
Let Him take the throne of your heart
Let Him be the head
Let Him teach you the way of true love
We all profess our love
For friends and family
For all and sundry
But on what really do we base our love?
Do we love only when it is convenient?
Or when the recipient is good?
What about when to love would be inconvenient?
What if the recipient deserves not to be approved?
This isn’t church talk
This is about true love
What would you do when the going is tough?
When the world demands that you hate but still you must love?
Let us depart from mere talk
Let us face the facts before us
The truth is we are incapable
Of giving true love that is infallible
In fact, it is inevitable
That we will say or do the irrevocable
That we will violate love’s creed
And be insensitive to the deepest need
For though we may speak the angels’ tongue
And give our bodies to be burned
The fact still remains that without Jesus
Our lives will only be an imitation of true love
Let us therefore invite Him in
The One who so loved our depraved world
Let us yield to His control all that lies within
Then we will know, be able to show and continually grow
In true love.
