You are about to enter a time machine to travel 250 years into the future. You are allowed to take only two books with you. Only one person at a time from the present can travel into the future. You have waited two years for this opportunity. What two books would you take and why?
June 22, 2006 Ė I am in the time machine waiting for the all clear to leave.
This will be my last entry before I discover what promises the future holds. I pray I have packed well. Not knowing style and fashion I hope I can buy what I need, depending on the monetary system I find. If I can get these butterflies in my stomach to land, maybe I wonít be so nervous.
Lord, thank You for this opportunity You have given me to go into the future. Though I donít know whatís there, I know You will be with me. I have packed the books You told me to. Of course, Your word is has top priority. I chose the KJV because I love the language and it is the purest message we have today. I also included, The Spiritual Man, by Watchman Nee. Iíve found it to be the best how-to manual on living the Christian life. Whomever I meet on the other side of the door will benefit from the simple explanations of this godly man.
I know I had to pack lightly and could only bring two books. I pray that books will be available in 250 years and mine will be valuable antiques. (I always make dumb jokes when Iím nervous.) Iím honored You chose me for this mission. As Your ambassador to the future, I appreciate the magnitude of the responsibility. Again, thank You.
Thereís the all clear. Iím ready to go, Lord. Amen.
