Legacies
An apostle of love
we should desire to be
in the style of St. John
with his heart, fatherly
"My little children"
he would write tenderly
expressing The Father's
thoughts to you and me
He laid his weary head
upon The Savior's breast
to hear the heart of God
who gave His very best
As an old man he saw
grand visions of Our Lord
arrayed with a splendor
he'd nver seen before
He would feed God's sheep
as did Peter and Paul
proclaiming the gospel
of "come one and come all"
An apostle of love
I'll aspire to be
in the spirit of John
with his heart, fatherly!
