A Hand In The Night
Should I suddenly be stripped one day
of all my earthly possessions...
standing naked in the eyes of the world,
would I hold tight to my heart's confession?
And if prison doors would close me in...
would this freedom I know still remain?
Can my spirit continue to soar
in the midst of this temporal pain?
What if sickness overtakes like a flood
with death's door clearly in sight?
Would my mind still be bathed in grace...
the grace that strengthens for the fight?
Can the death of a precious loved one
Send me tailspinning to the ground?
Does Your peace which surrounds live in that place?
The torrent of Your love continue to drown?
Should deafness and blindness suddenly occur,
can the darkness and silence dim Your light,
quieting the beauty of what You speak and show?
LORD, WILL YOU HOLD MY HAND IN THE NIGHT?
Rain upon me assurance all will be well.
Still the orphan's cry for His Father.
Dry the tears of earth's travail.
Yet for a little while, we must endure,
that Your Glory may be revealed.
Then, shall morning bring a joy so pure...
In Your Holy Spirit we've been sealed!
