It was celebrated as Number One;
One of man's greatest achievements,
The Queens of the sea had come.
The impossible was made possible.
No expense was spared,
like a peacock, she was all airs.
Heralded as unsinkable ship.
History was in the making.
And so decorated, adorned in her best dress,
she stepped out on her maiden voyage
amidst cheers pomp and pageantry.
We were all proud of her and of our triumph.
Southampton was the womb
that gave birth to Titanic,
the Maritime Colossus
But who knew the maiden voyage day
was also a doom’s day?
She was ambushed by an ice field,
but she was defiant
and ignored the warnings of impending danger.
Wisdom kept shouting,
‘Stop, retreat, danger ahead!.’
But she said,” Shut up, shut up, I’m busy.”
Soon disaster struck;
she ran out of luck.
The flag ship of the White Star Line
Was head butted by the Ice behemoth;
And it was a knockout blow
that consigned her
with 1500 passengers and crew
to an early watery grave,
far from the history she wanted to make.
Could you believe that man could be so vulnerable and limited?
Could you believe that stack warnings
could be so flagrantly ignored?
What a lesson for you and me.
We are all at the mercy of God.
We must remain humble regardless of our achievements.
Pride goes before a fall.
We must heed warnings of impending dangers by changing our direction.
There is only one unsinkable ship and that is Salvation Ship and Jesus is the Captain of that Ship. His is also a life boat and unless you’re in that boat, there is no hope for you. The day is far spent and that night draws near. Watch out. If you hear His voice this day, take heed before it is too late.
