A tiny seed finds, when planted in good rich soil, a place to thrive. The sun warms it in infancy and the rain allows it to draw nourishment .All of nature cooperates as the seed evolves and grows into something quite different from its miniscule beginnings. From that seed a vine breaks through the confines of it’s own protective shell and through the soil into the light. Leaving its roots behind to do what they must do, it reaches, extends, and stretches itself toward the Heavens. The vine begins to develop branches. More and more are added and strengthened as the vine from that tiny seed continues to grow. Each one is separate and distinct though they all wave in unison to the breezes that blow and they all comprise one plant.
The strongest place is that which is closest to the original shoot that burst through the earth…the vine. That is where the birds will build their homes…where the branch meets with the vine. They know they can trust the strength of it to provide a safe haven for their young.
Just like one of those branches, may there be a place in you and in me of indomitable strength; the strongest, place being that portion that is attached to the vine…that place where we are joined to Jesus. Let no storm, gusting gale, or scorching heat encourage us to break away, for without the vine, which holds all that gives us life, we will surely die. Let us continue to wave in unison, though we are indeed separate and distinct branches. Just ask the Gardener…He knows it’s all one plant!
