Joy for the moment
Sorrow for the night
In it's time death takes flight
Heading for the car filled with people
Or the afternoon shopping trip
Choosing it's places
And victim filled faces
It taunts and laughs
As it grabs hold
Pulling, never letting go
A nasty grip, with a nasty face
Not a moments rest
Nor a moments peace
No hope, least of all love
A gift we bought ourselves
In the beginning at the Garden of Eden
Long before our time
Before words ever penned the page
Death is the enemy of one to behold
Strengthening our fears and guilt
Shattering our hopes
Staggering our dreams
But in the moments no one's their time
But I always wonder is today mine
