Things don’t always go the way I wish they would.
You don’t always do things as I think you should.
Your thoughts are too deep; your ways are not mine.
I must trust in your love as I wait for your time.
When troubles abound and answers are few,
I don’t see what is right or know what to do.
I can’t see with my eyes, but I believe with my heart,
and trust you in faith to your wisdom impart.
I don’t need to know how, I just need to know who.
I don’t need to know why, I just need to know you.
I don’t need to know when and I don’t need to know where.
All that I need to know is that you’re always there.
When sorrow and pain overwhelm heart and soul,
it may seem to my flesh that life’s out of control.
I want to ask “why?” - “How and when will you act?”
You just call me to trust that you know what I lack.
All my high, lofty schemes, no matter the goal,
are just my fleshly means to keep me in control.
Let my flesh squirm and squeal, I know you’re at the wheel,
and you’re driving me home, where my pain you will heal.
I don’t need to know how, I just need to know who.
I don’t need to know why, I just need to know you.
I don’t need to know when and I don’t need to know where.
All that I need to know is that you’re always there.
