Suppose, just suppose, someone known to your upright father, in your native town makes a film on your father’s life and portrait him as a bad character of the town and assures that he will display a disclaimer at the beginning of the movie that it’s a “fiction”. Will you allow the film for public view as it has a disclaimer? Will you enjoy the fun of watching the film on your father’s life portrayed as a person you never know him of?
It is disheartening to see some priests, after viewing the preview of the movie “The Da Vinci Code” declared that it can be released in India with a disclaimer.
On our Lord Jesus Christ, Philippians 2:9-11 says, “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father .
Jesus Christ is Eternal, Holy, Immutable, Impassable, Infinite, All-powerful, Everywhere-present, All-wise, Simple, Self-sufficient, Immaterial, Good, Loving, Gracious, Merciful, Righteous, Just and Sovereign and is God.
How can a believer in the right God praise and worship His Majesty privately as well as corporately in the church and at the same time view this film for any reason may it be for fun, knowledge or as an object of curiosity?
We cannot execuse ourselves that we can watch the movie just to know what it is exactly about. We don’t read all books, watch all movies just to know what they are all about.. We will end up in these activities lifelong just to increase knowledge and there is no end to it! By now, we all know what this movie is about. I tremble to pen the nature of blasphemy this book and movie ventured to talk about.
The movie is blasphemous and it distorts the Bible and violates the dignity of Jesus Christ. One of the most fearful terms to be found in the New Testament is the word “blasphemy.” Blasphemy is represented as a horrible sin
This is not a movie that any Christian should watch for fun because just like people do not usually drive their cars around looking for car accidents, Christians should not needlessly seek out things that will undermine the Truth. In fact, we must go one step further and read some books on the history of the early church since that will increase the ability of Christians to better understand many of the heresies that are now making their way into popular culture like the Gospel of Judas and the Da Vinci Code.
So, if you have booked a ticket for this movie, tear it off and if you have stored a VCD of this movie at home, destroy it all and throw them in your trash bin. You will enjoy the happiness of obeying God’s Word! Believe me!!
What hasn't been pointed that that Jesus was already betrothed to his church-his future bride. How could he get married to someone else. Incidentally the Catholic Church where I live never endorsed this movie.
