You can tell that an Iowa farmer is having a good year when you
see white sidewall tires on his manure spreader.
I have two habits that seem to bring smiles. When I see a person
with a cane, I show them my cane and ask if they want to race.
When I see a little boy with nice hair, I usually ask if he wants to
trade hair. Both comments get "no" answers, but they are always
accompanied with smiles.
Do you know of anything much prettier than a child's smile?
Lately we've heard several heart-breaking news stories on local
TVof gross mistreatment of children. Unfortunately, many child-
ren in our world get very little opportunity to smile.
In the New Testament we have examples of Jesus being kind to
children, and I would imagine He made them smile. Maybe
young children won't grow up and specifically remember your
attempts to make them smile, but they will surely retain an image
of your kind attitude.
What can you do today to bring a smile to a child's face?
Whatever it is, it will be worth the effort. In Matt 18:5 (nlt),
Jesus said, "Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my
behalf is welcoming me." "Jesus loves the little children," and
so should we. Make one smile today.
