Growing Green Finding Sustenance in Christ

The days are revealing to us that summer is peeking around the corner and will be here soon. Today, the mountain is a vibrant green from all the spring rain and snow we have gotten. We actually received more of the stuff than winter. It is that part of the seasons I like. When the green starts. This reminds me of growth, newness, and life. I like that. This is the representation of the believer also. When they are full of the Spirit of God, the living water brings forth new growth. The believer is alive, new, and vibrant.

It is when the drought sets in that trouble starts. The ground dries, plants wither, and animals find trouble grazing. No fruits are borne, and the only plants that survive are the hardy sagebrush. Its roots dig down deep into the soil, below the upper layers of drought , to the hidden pockets of moisture. From this the sagebrush can live until the rains or snows come. This also is like the believer. When tough times come. When persecution, trouble, heartaches come and seem to dry up your soul. When the moisture of belief and discipleship start to dry up, then dig deep. This for the believer is done through the Holy Spirit.

As you dig down, ask the Spirit to guide you, to give you the moisture you need to grow. Then when you are digging deep in the soil of Gods word, sustenance will be found. As the blistering heat tries to wither you, pray and dig deep to the hidden pockets of sustenance found only in the Lord. It is here, when the lips are cracking from lack of water, the tongue is parched, and the soul thirsty, that true life giving sustenance comes. It is a time when that drink of eternal nector brought to our soul by the Lord can only satisfy. When you know that being in the world, is only made possible by Gods help. When no other avenue can bring relief, Gods Spirit does. This is the spring eternal of the soul. That time when the trouble cannot defeat. When the persecution cannot defy your ability to remain true to Gods calling in your life. It is that time when the shelter of His wings, the water of His Spirit, and the touch of His hand creates in you that purpose you were created for. That purpose, is to be conformed to the image of his son.

You who are the Called, according to his purpose. For He foreknew, predestined, and called you to be conformed to that image of His son. You are to be that firstborn among many brethren. In the spring of your life, when the growth comes, it is preparing you to survive the drought of the lean times. For you are called for His purpose, to bring glory to His name, to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ. You are justified and He knows you. He will also glorify you.

Isn’t that great. He knows you, your name. He intends to bring you forth to glory. For all creation waits for the earnest expectation of the revealing of the sons of Glory. The revealing of the Sons of glory, is you and me. The brethren called according to His purpose. So in the midst of bad news, troubled times, false teachers, persecution, and all that there is, we are the “called according to His purpose”. We are His sons and daughters.

Psalms 1:1 ¶Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 ¶The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

I advise you to read Romans 8 several times. Get to know it well. This describes who you are. You are the one God knows. He is working in your life. The all eternal, all powerful, all knowing God. The one who made the stars, the sun, and the heavens. He knows your name, counts your very hairs on your head. He sent His son to die on the cross for all mans sins. The ones who believe this and follow him, repenting of their sins, and calling on his name will be saved. Thus the cycle of new growth. From darkness to light. From sins to salvation. From weakness to strength. It is all in him, the one, the only, Jesus Christ (Yeshua HaMassiach). Reach down your roots deep today and keep them there. Then walk in Him as his purposes are fulfilled in you.
