I’m Broken
I’m broken, Father
My cloak is torn.
The hem is frayed,
The edges worn.
Where once I was
Dressed in white
Washed in blood
Clothed in your light
I stand naked
Holding pieces together
I’m broken, Lord.
I’m broken forever.
I’ve turned away
From the plough
What can I say?
What do I do now?
I’m broken, Lord.
Am I beyond repair?
I’m crying out
But are you even there?
There are holes
No cloth can patch
Bits and pieces
I can’t seem to match
I’m barely hanging
From a string
Can’t remember when
I’ve prayed, can’t sing
I’m broken, Lord
I’m broken bad
Can’t hide my face
Keep feeling sad.
Can you dry
These tears I’ve cried?
Can you forgive
The sins inside?
Am I too far
Your arm can’t find
A redeeming feature
In my heart or mind?
Am I as worthless
As I feel inside?
Should I release
The pain I hide?
I’m broken, Lord
I’m filled with fear
Only You can bring
Your healing here
Into your hands
I surrender my soul
Please fix me, Lord
Please make me whole
I’m broken, Lord
I’m broken bad
Please take my hurt
And make me glad
