That’s the question that besieges me from time to time when I come across that prayer point that seems just too big for me to get my mind around.
May be I am the only one but may be not.
Your asked to pray for something and it just seems to be so big on the scale of things that you are overwhelmed by it.
Recently I was asked to pray for just such a thing.
My mind was blown away by it.
I attempted to pray for it but as you might have guessed by now,
I just couldn’t imagine how God was going to do this one.
Not that I doubted that father couldn’t do it, just it seems so BIG compared to the usual prayer points and requests.
I am so glad that God doesn’t depend on my amount of faith in these situations.
So there I was in prayer desperately trying to get my mind into gear with God on this one, when God gave me a mental image of David and Goliath and the stone and slingshot that took out the giant.
Then in a soft still voice straight to my heart and mind came the reason for my mental image.
Father said that I was looking at the giant (the prayer point) and my self (little itty bitty David) and not the stone that took out the giant (God)
So often we focus on how big it is and how small and unable we are. We fall into the trap of thinking that it relies on us praying in a certain way or time frame.
As if our own faith will be the only unlocking force God uses. As if the answer depends on me or my prayers.
We forget that god can use a small round stone if necessary to tackle even the biggest problem.
So the encouragement is look not at the how or why but at the who….
God is more than able and more than willing and gives us the joy of joining in with his plans. How awesome is that.
Blessings
