The virgin snow lies softly on the gentle mountain slope.
Ice hangs from the pine trees’ boughs like a crystalline rope.
Gray clouds so thick that through the clouds the sun cannot poke.
Chimneys on the scattered cabins are puffing streams of smoke.
The view is like a Christmas card and gives my heart a glow.
I hesitate to walk upon the fresh and fluffy snow.
My friends are all smiling at the beauty that we see.
We finally get our trailer and unload our ATVs.
We climb upon our steel steeds and make them come to life,
we’ve waited weeks to get away from work and kids and wife.
Soon we’re racing up and down snow covered mountain trails,
spewing smoke and oil like locomotives on the rails.
At night we load our trailer; we’ve had our day of fun,
we don’t look behind to see the damage that we’ve done.
God gave such gifts of beauty it’s hard to understand
what goes through the mind of an educated man.
