A dedication to Lindy... love from Lindy xxx

A few nights ago I sat and watched the stars. Some were dim but noticeable. Others were bright but not completely breath taking. Then there were those few that beamed so brightly that the sky was brightened brilliantly. They captured my gaze and I felt completely overwhelmed by the way they lit up the rest.

I thought about humanity. I think we’re much the same. Some of us simply live our lives content to be in existence.
Some of us possess the beauty or possessions that the world smiles upon. In truth though, these people pass by in our lives without making us think twice about who they truly are or were.
Others live their lives so that those around them take notice. They are a smile. They are beauty in the true sense. They capture one’s gaze by the way they light up the lives of others. You are one of these people.

Both you and I know that our time together is coming to a close. It has been an honour to know you. You truly are a star that beams brilliantly and brightly and your children are a reflection of that. You have fought all the tasks life has brought before you with everything you have and you should be proud. Those who’ve known you have adopted your contagious smile, your approach to life and the beam you possess simply by being you.

I want to say thank you for all that you have been to me. You have been wisdom, a friend and humility when I needed it most. I knew that when you asked me how my day was, you weren’t asking out of courtesy, but out of genuine concern. I can’t tell you how much I value these simple gestures and again, I thank you for being the person you are.

When the day arrives that I gaze into the darkness of the night and look up at the stars, realising that the brightness of you is no longer there, I will be so deeply saddened. I will miss your warmth & your kindness. I’ll miss your gentle spirit. I will miss you.

But then I’ll remember to look around me- you’ll be there. Amongst the smiles, amongst the true beauty you have implanted in others, there you’ll be. Your life hasn’t been wasted- we have learnt so much from you. You have given me the hope of being a better person. I’ll strive to be a bright star like you. Thank you for inspiring me, Thank you for being you. Thank you for beaming ever so brilliantly into my life and for giving me the joy of knowing you.
