Grief
Tempted by this voice inside
I am swallowed up by it, forever consumed in it.
With razor sharp teeth it pierces my soul
I can’t breathe, I can’t sleep, I can’t eat.
I run but I can’t escape its grasp.
It seeks me, it hunts me down, it feeds on my hope.
This force is unyielding, it aches deep within, it claws at my existence
I am lost somewhere inside, hiding my face.
Yet you see me, your gentle smile covers me.
You know me, you breathe for me.
Your warmth is my blanket, it holds me.
As you have created me, so I am cursed.
Destined to live out this life in pain
Wounded in battle - you save me.
In my weakness and in my despair, you go out before me
You whisper to me and I know that I am alive.
