Be a blessing if you can
Think about your fellow man
As he walks along life's rocky road
Could it be that your smile lifts his load?
Could you take the time to say a prayer
Or to simply let him know you care
And when you see him face another trial
Could you stand beside him one more mile?
Now the secret of this poem is this
You may also face a dark abyss
But as you press on despite your pain
A simple truth God's word explains
For what you reap you've surely sown
So even when life brings you woe
If you can reach out through despair
To hold another's heart in prayer
Then God, too, will bless you double-fold
Though your own fears seem to make you old
Your spirit soars in the Father's love
And your struggles you soon rise above
Be a blessing if you can
For every challenge make a plan
Could you bring laughter through your pain?
Like the springtime flowers bless through rain
Be a blessing if you can
So that those who see you understand
That there's nothing here that can keep you down
For the Father's love for you abounds
And when you bless, let them perceive
That in this way, you, too, love receive
For then as you face each great impasse
And you 'round each winding bend
Then the Father holds his blessed child
And His angels thee attend
Be a blessing if you can
So that others understand
That the Holy Spirit lives through you
No matter what--life puts you through
