Four friends talk at the coffee hour at church. The skit is intended as a lead-in to a sermon or devotion written by you! This is just a tickler to get others thinking. The full presentation of the message comes in your sermon or devotion.
Acts 4:8-12.
Julie: Does anybody have a good name for a baby girl?
Vaughn: A baby girl? That’s great, Julie. We’re so excited for you.
Estelle: Congratulations. When is the happy date?
Leon: Your kids must be pretty excited about a baby sister, huh?
Julie: No, no, no…not me! I’m not having a baby. No, no, no, no.
Vaughn: No offense, Julie, but you were freaking me out a bit there.
Estelle: Well, who is the Mom of the baby that we are helping to name?
Julie: My niece, Mary Katherine. She already has three girls, Emma, Samantha and Melanie. She says she’s plum out of girl's names.
Leon: How about Shelly or Darla?
Vaughn: Or Emily or Amelia?
Estelle: I think your niece, Mary Katherine, should turn her name around and name her daughter Katherine Marie.
Julie: Hey, I’ll be sure to tell her that one!
Vaughn: Speaking of names, I just heard that my friend Sue Philpot was going to court to have her name changed.
Leon: That sounds like a good idea.
Vaughn: Yeah, she has always hated the name, Sue.
Estelle: Very funny, Vaughn.
Leon: Well, there is one name that is above all names. Jesus, the Son of the living God.
Julie: Right, Leon. At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow.
