Bow To Jesus!
by Minister Roger D. King
"At the name of Jesus, EVERY KNEE should bow and EVERY TONGUE confess that Jesus Christ is Lord!"
My friend it is very important to understand and realize the truth and the power that is in the name of Jesus. The above scripture Philippians 2:10 says clearly, "At the name of Jesus, every knee should bow!: This means that I should bow only to Jesus, this means that you should bow only to Jesus, this means that our children, friends, and co-workers should BOW TO JESUS.
You may say, "I don't believe in the name of Jesus, only God." You are missing a very important "link" in getting to God. You can only get to God the Father by getting to Jesus first. "No one can come to the Father except by ME." To get God's attention, we have to come "in the Name of Jesus." "But God is the Father and Jesus is the son, right?" Jesus stated, "I and My Father are ONE." God is SpiritJesus is the Word made fleshIn the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the Word was God.
It is very important to understand the reason we have to use the name of Jesus-Jesus who lived on this earth in a flesh and blood body and never sinned. Yet became sin in order to pay the price for our sins. What?- Jesus who never sinned, was accused of sinning, was accused of being a devil, a whoremonger and a drunk among other things. He did not define Himself. He willingly allowed these accusations and ridicule to take place, and became sin. By keeping quiet, he was in a way saying that he was guilty. Here is an example: You tell your six-year-old child not to touch the cookies in the cookie jar and eating some of the cookies. In the process the cookie jar gets dropped and breaks into pieces. You see what happened and ask the child about it. In most cases the child will be very quiet, speechless. Why? Because of guilt! So we see that due to the silence of Jesus, those who were judging him took his silence as guilt.
There are times when silence is necessary. In Jesus' case it was necessary. If he had defended himself, you and I would not have an "intercessor," an advocate to stand on our behalf to represent our case. We would have to pay the full price for all of our sins and the sins of our fathers before us.
Jesus paid the ultimate price by becoming our "sacrificial Lamb." He died in our place on a cross that was meant for a criminal named Barabbas. The same penalty of death that Barabbas faced, you and I faced as well. There are people all around us who are facing this same penalty of death.
I thank God the Father that I accepted the saving grace of Jesus the Christ. Because of His shed blood, my sins have been washed away, and I am redeemed from the curse of the Law! "Cursed is he that hangs on a tree." Jesus willingly hung on a cross of a "tree" that represented punishment and torture. Jesus became cursed for us.
Jesus died for the sins of this world, so how much more should we be willing, once accepting the fact that he died for us, to suffer trials and tests in his name. The name of Jesus! The name of the one who withstood all manner of evil for you and for me. If you are willing to accept the work that Jesus did for you and I on the cross, are you willing to speak in His name? Are you willing to "speak out and up" in the name of Jesus? Or would you rather hide your faith in Jesus and cause Him to be ashamed of you? I have made my choice, what about you? The choice is yours, and yours alone. I made the choice in August of 1994 after a lifetime of living a "double-standard", a life of sin and deception. Since accepting the Lord Jesus as my personal savior, I have willingly(and sometimes unwillingly) accepted accusations and attacks for His Glory. To lift Him up, to give honor and glory to Him. In other words, to worship Jesus because of what He has done for me. He willingly died on a cross for ME.
It has not been easy being a disciple of Christ Jesus, yet He gives me the grace to stand, to continue moving forward. Of myself I am absolutely nothing! In my flesh there is no good thing. But with Christ Jesus alive in me, I can do all things (withstanding attacks and accusations-even when they hurt real bad) because Jesus gives me the strength to do so. You may be wondering why I am writing this, because "every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord" Philippians 2:10. Because I am instructed to do so! First, I am to bow to, or worship the Lord Jesus, second, I am to confess Him. In other words I am to share the good news of what Jesus has done for me in my life. No matter what the situation, who you are, or where you live, you should be proclaiming Jesus as Lord. When Jesus is proclaimed as Lord, the devil will flee, and those who are sick will be healed, those who are "held captive"(bound by drugs and alcohol, illicit sex, etc.) shall be released! Those who are attacking you(saying things that aren't true, or mistreating you with evil), will suffer the judgment of God. "Vengeance is mine says the Lord." God looks after His children. He loves His children so much that He sent Jesus, His word, to deliver us all from the penalty of sin. Remember the penalty is DEATH. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish , but have everlasting life. 17: For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."
Throughout history, God has wanted His creation(Mankind) to worship Him, to glorify Him, and to believe in Him. To believe in His word, His son Jesus. God wants us, you and your family, me and my family, and all of our friends to be saved from the penalty of sin. What do you want? Life or Death? Jesus wants us to choose life! I chose Life, and I want what Jesus wants for you, to choose life! Choose life by choosing Jesus. Jesus defeated death, hell, and the grave so that you and I could live in the presence of God for eternity, and not spend eternity in hell-continuous torment, or face the "second death."
Accepting Jesus means that there is power available to overcome death, hell, and the grave in our life. Jesus has the key to death, hell, and the grave, and He wants to share them with us. If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, please take a moment and think about all of your sins, think about the fact that you really do need a savior, even if you think you are a "good person." Being a "good person" will not get you to heaven, but accepting Jesus will.
Now that you have thought about your sins, repeat this simple prayer, "Dear Jesus, please forgive me of all of my sins. Come into my life and live in me. I accept the fact that you died just for me, to pay the price for me, amen! Praise God, you are now saved!!!
What now? GO TELL SOMEONE,(if there is no one to tell, tell me). Next, get a bible and start reading it (where do I start reading? The book of John), and find a good bible teaching church. All of this is made possible because of Jesus. Because of the Love that God the Father has for you and for me. Now let's rejoice together about the decision you just made! Thank you Jesus!!!
