Rightly Dividing

As the curious crowd watched Him walk away,
Water dripped from the feet of the Lord.
The Fatherís voice had allowed from Heaven
His perfect love for His Son to be poured.

So why did this man, who from Nazareth came,
Disappear in the wilderness, not to return?
They waited and watched, but He didnít come out.
Is this when John the Baptistís doubts started to burn?

In obedience to the Father, and led by the Spirit,
Jesus fasted for forty days.
Temptation from Satan lay ahead He knew,
So the power of the Spirit gave praise.

To obey the Father and redeem a fallen race
He had to rightly divide the word of truth.
Himself the antidote for mankindís sin,
He prepared for this moment from His youth.

Out of hot, dry sand and barren rock
The tempter slithered for attack.
The poison darts he chose that day
Jesus deftly removed from their track.

Crushed by the Word, the devil fled,
Trailing behind his venomous morsels.
Then the Father above sent His weary Son
Soothing balm through ministering angels.

Great Poem. Amen.

A very good write, the temptation of Jesus was one of the steps that would lead to victory of Satin. I enjoyed this very much.

An interesting take on the topic. The meter and rhyme don't lend themselves particularly well to making it easy to read. The title is thought-provoking. There is an imagery here of not only the way Jesus used scripture (a double-edged sword), but also in how he elected to separate himself from the crowd. Overall, a good start.

This is just magnificient. A great glimpse into Jesus' temptation by Satan, and a very good lesson for us to follow when we're tempted. Satan will flee from also when resist him. God gurantees that. Thank you for this inspiration. Thomas
