I stumbled along life's pathway,
Its vanities blinding my sight;
My heart set on silver and gold
Reveling in all its might.
I walked alone – burdened with sin,
Yonder - clothed in an armour of light;
Lo and behold! My Saviour beckoned
Bathed in radiance bright.
My riches all – turned to naught,
My purple linen – a curse on me;
From my Saviour's loving presence
Alas! I turned to flee.
Eyes alight with fiery warmth,
Wounded arms – reaching out for me;
Voice filled with grief, He chided –
"My child – don't you love me?"
"Yes, my Lord", I trembled,
Surrendered at my Master's breast;
"My life – I consecrate to thee
Mould me – as thou deems best."
