Staying faithful and fruitful in the campus:The environment where abilities are maximized, molded as well as modeled for proficient and productive use of skills.I guess that should be one of the definitions of the campus.
M-Mold and model
P - Proficiency and productivity
Knowledge is scattered around in nature and it has taken several years of efforts to glean these as well as several research work are still going on and many shall still. It will take the whole of eternity to gather all these together into structured curriculum. These are reflected in the curriculum of many courses/field of studies in higher institutions established in various part of world.
It does not require such long years and rigour that were expended to glean these knowledge/information and arranged it into structured curricula to acquire them. If such years and rigour will be needed, it will be a difficult task. One will need to be a Methuselah to accomplish and accummulate a very minute portion of these. This is the purpose of the citadel of knowledge designed to glean so much knowledge, information and skill within shortest possible time.
Knowledge is taught, and skills are learned. They are always designed to meet specific goals, be it conventional or specialized institution. Young and old men, men and women are trained and equipped to handle responsibilities and challenges in this citadel called campus.
The campus is an intellectual compartment or lets call it a fenced city where abilities are molded as well as modeled after some established facts (findings after conscious test and testimonies are sought and sealed) and principles for proficient and productive use of developed gifts, talents and skill. It is a fenced city or environment because some levels of discipline and separations are necessary to develop abilities, learn new things and develop skill. This is what it has been from inception, since men discovered the need to know the what? Why? Who? When? and the how? of the creator and creatures . Acquisition of knowledge is such a very interesting venture, if it is well and wisely directed. It is a re searchable fact; campuses are very close to authorities in many areas!
Several campuses – institution of learning were established for different purposes, objectively to acquire knowledge, to solve some presumed, assumed or real problems and meet necessities of need. Thousands of these were established in the last two centuries being what it is: strictly learning and development of skill. But recent observation shows it does not always work this way partially because of people understanding about these citadels of knowledge and partly the lack of Godly purpose in it. It is pathetic, purposes for which these various citadels are instituted are defeated in the lives of some students.
Normally, it should be a place where character and learning are seriously held with importance in it purpose. It is unfortunate that such environment may not be conducive as used to be for character and learning which are both compatible elements that determine and shall distinguished successful personalities. These are not because there are lacks of human resources in various campuses, there are many in this generations of ours compared with the past.
Science and technology has really made a better provision for this generation, yet the issues in the campuses at these moments are volatile. There are various vices that hit news and events in these our prestigious environments! There are cases of violence and sexual perversion of all kinds, atrocities is common in their queues. Cases of examination malpractices, cultism and academics frauds, impersonation and the likes. These various citadels of knowledge are becoming tighter and tougher for Christians who must dwell in these challenging citadels.
The culture of this environment had gradually changed from what it used to be. The bells of violence are jingling at all season, and the corruptions of the Moabites (Num. 25:10) are at highest mountain calling and calling. Such environment might be dangerous for Christians. But must Christian fail to get in there and acquire relevant knowledge, develop skill and abilities to aid their careers and professions in life? Some of these acquired skill and knowledge are even relevant in the kingdom
I heard a young lady told her younger sister, that she was going to get all her parent forbid her while she was at home when she get to the campus. “ When I get to campus all these I will make sure I get them.” You can imagine other anticipations of hers. These citadels require discipline and separation, but give you some freedom. There, your parent and guardian may not be able to check you and your activities. There is freedom relatively unlimited! But in life, there is no absolute freedom for any one that must succeed in any endeavour. Freedom has a price and she is not as overlooking as most of us think, you will pay for wherever way you use this wonderful opportunity of freedom.
Another uniqueness about campus is that, it is a place of great opportunity; you will meet new friends, great lecturers, great minds who will give you their various experiences to sharpen your abilities and gifts. It is a place to learn what will make men willing to reckon with you. It is a place of great challenges and responsibilities. It is the success in handling couples of these responsibilities and challenges that will determine if you will be confirmed in the palace in life. But there is the dread in the campus; it is a place of great temptations. How do Christian stay faithful to God in the citadel where freedom, responsibilities, challenges and great temptations abounds.
And the king spake unto Ashpenaz the master of his eunuchs, that he should bring certain of the children of Israel, and of the king’s seed, and of the princes; Children in whom was no blemish, but well favoured, and skilful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding science, and such as had ability in them to stand in the king’s palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldeans. And the king appointed them a daily provision of the king’s meat, and of the wine which he drank: so nourishing them three years, that at the end thereof they might stand before the king. Now among these were of the children of Judah, Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave names: for he gave unto Daniel the name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to Azariah, of Abednego. But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah were young scholar admitted after a thorough selection process. They met the requirement as stated in verse 4 and this curriculum for their course was formed. However, there were free provisions in that campus for the space of three years. Literally, this is applicable to students privileged with scholarship, however, some student are responsible for their sponsorship while some have their parents or relatives responsible for theirs. There are also provisions by the management of the institutions according to their directions to aid achievement of goals on both parties’ management and the students.
We should understand that not all men and women occupying these positions are in God conscious or quite moral; also, they are human. More so, the chief enemy devil should not be left out in those issues. There are things thought better for you, they are drafted into the provisions of successful completions of your course. Some of these provisions may be like delicious food presented to idols before given to these four Hebrew scholars. Some of these provisions may not really be sinful; they are general provisions for the believers and unbelievers. Like Daniel and the other three Hebrew children had various provision: food and rules such is campus, most especially general-purpose citadels of knowledge. In these campuses, students with different religious, cultural, financial and academic backgrounds are subjected to the same rules and regulations. This was the experience of the Hebrew children admitted into the prestigious citadel of knowledge in Babylon, located in the king’s palace. It was expected of these young scholars to keep their faith and future.
It is unfortunate that most people allow their present and future to determine their faith in God. staying faithful in the campus like these four Hebrew scholars is highly a necessary venture for every professed , converted Christian. It is very important to note that the following and all their advances shall be reflected in our various campuses
All these are products of the citadel of knowledge or imported into it by the society! But believer, those who had really had encountered with the Lord Jesus Christ must keep themselves faithful in the campus. Most students come into the campus when they are trying to figure out on what platform should they stand and project their courses, visions and careers, yet there are countless platforms from which to make this choices in the campus: there are religious, social, philosophical ideas and principles. It is necessary to make choices, right choices in time! All activities run simultaneously, with your age, maturity, and career, with the campus programs. There will be encounter with friends, events, responsibilities, challenges and temptations. These all contribute to who you shall be while in and out of the campus.
I shall start the talking about seven major steps or things needed to stay faithful through the stay in the campuses as a child or children of God. I shall commence the introduction aspect in this article
I have observed that only very few students among thousands of teenagers that thronged into colleges / higher institution of learning and some older men and women who are privileged by reason of sponsorship or other wise pass through various educational institutions do not have purpose and those who seem
to have, do not project and propel this well with the grace that will bring achievement. Purpose is the secret behind outstanding and lasting achievement.
But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the e unuchs that he might not defile himself.
Purpose is the convinced reasons or reason why you must attempt, possess, attain, accept, adhere, detach, associate or dissociate, belief or disbelief. Purpose is such an active force emanating from the resolve of the mind; heart and your soul and body will ever give 100% compliances. Purpose is dynamic, can and should be updated after constant examination. With purpose, boundaries are set, limit and fences are raised by which you set how far you can go, and with who and what in your ways. Purpose is always the forerunner of principles. Principles are developed when the well of purpose is unlocked. We should understand also, purpose can be Godly inclined or not. But the cross line is purpose is a strong resolve in the heart that will disciple the whole lot of you, your course of study and endeavours. Once purpose is enthroned you are a subject, except God is enthroned.
I am of the opinion that we should not make God a subject to our purposes, but the reason for our purpose, that is the best way you will get God committed in your course. Purpose determine your focus, group and should be flexible \however should not be compromised. Goals are easily set by purposed students. However, it is highly necessary to know how to process, protect and project our purposes.
Purpose could be in division, however there must be over all-purpose for your life. Let the purpose of going to this citadel of knowledge be compatible with the over all purpose in life and thereafter pursue.
Purpose will always aid your pursuit and planning, it will determine various choices you make in the campus. Purpose answers why and what? Why do you have to pick the course of study and that very school, even if these both were not your primary choices, they were just the only alternative left for you, the over all purpose you have for life will determine if you will excel in this course of study, remain faithful, fruitful and fulfilled while in that campus.
Purpose must be balanced. This is where many Christian are drifting. Zeal is necessary but, limited and will fail without wisdom. If you have all reasonable resolve why you must be in that campus, then the resolve must be like Daniel and his colleagues; they were admitted quite well like others, but hey do not just trail academic excellence but also spiritual purity. They were not going to defile themselves. They resolved in that campus to be separated unto God. What do yo think is the outcome, they excel in all! Do not take God out of your educational pursuit, like wise your purpose in life without the over- all God’s purpose involved, this may suffer some troubles when challenges, responsibilities and temptation comes the way, despite the unlimited freedom you think you have.
Purposefulness – balance resolve to please God throughout their state and excel in their academics
I shall be back , to give full details of purposefulness for Christian students in the campus as well how to stay faithful in the campus. By His grace Watch out! Any question? Mail firstname.lastname@example.org
