Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward. (2 John 1:8 NKJV)
The above verse is both encouraging as well as a warning. One is motivated towards receiving a full reward while simultaneously we are also called to look at and analyze one’s own self. In other words, we should analyze the course of our life, value our efforts while we work towards receiving a rich reward.
As more deceivers and deceits abound, a disciple of Jesus Christ is expected to be more watchful. To depart from the true Jesus Christ means that you put yourself in jeopardy to lose the things we worked for; it isn't enough for us to start out right, we must finish in faith to receive a full reward. A person might have experienced the new heaven and earth and also the power of the Holy Spirit yet lose them all for the pleasures of this world.
I have heard about one such servant of God. He was a mighty man of God. The demons trembled before him. Whenever He spoke, people gathered in large numbers to hear God’s word and witness the manifestation of the Holy Spirit’s power. He had worked ceaselessly for bringing the precious perishing souls into the fold of the Lord but ultimately lost his own soul to the pleasures of this world. Therefore, we are warned to keep our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ till the end of race and not lose while we are still in the process of running the race.
Frankly speaking, what is this reward about which we are very curious? If there is a talk about receiving a full reward, does that mean it is possible for someone to settle down with something less than expected? When and where do we get this reward?
Let no one cheat you through false teachings of your reward from your Father in heaven who sees you in secret. God will reward you openly truly great will be your reward in heaven.
For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his/her works. And behold, Jesus Christ is coming quickly, and His reward is with Him, to give to every one according to their work.
When do you get the great reward?
The answer is very plain in paper but painful in practice.
1. Love your enemies.
2. Do good
3. Lend, hoping for nothing in return
Then your reward will be great.
Each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor. Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. Knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. Have this double dagger weapon always in mind and press towards the goal of receiving the full reward.
If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW
