De Profundis
Psalm 129 - The Sixth Penitential Psalm
from NONE - The Hours of the Cross
From this heart of long perspiring -
Woe to me for not aspiring;
O Lord, patient you are to me,
Hear my dire supplications.
Reason must I surrender before thee -
All acts are illusion before me;
I turn to endure one more lapse, while time
Runs through this endless sieve.
Our grief your love reveals – many
By harden’d heart the more rebuked -
Hope is sowed in heart of a hundred
Wounds, or warmed to ease eternity.
May mercy be known, if knowing exceeds
Our strength; or fit to endure endless pain.
