Part 2: {When Did You Truly Know That God Was With You?}

A precious friend who wants to touch the face of God asked me this question. When did you truly know that God was with you? I had a knowing that God was always with me from when I was a child. My parents taught us from the bible and they told us as children, that God is everywhere, he knows everything, and there is not any place you can go or any thing you can do or think that he doesn't know about. When my parents told me this, I believed them. I believed that God was just as they said. As a child, I was just growing and learning, I had not yet made any commitments to serve the Lord, but even before I made the commitment, the Lord showed me that he was with me.

Once when leaving work one day, I stopped by the bank to cash my payroll check. After I cashed my check, I hurried to catch my bus. There were a lot of people waiting to board the bus, so people were very close to each other trying to hurry and get on. I began to hear in my ear, "You know the way your purse is made it would be very easy for someone to go in and steal from you": and when I heard that, I looked down at my purse hanging by my side, I could see that it was opened, and this man was standing right beside me with his coat over his hand and I gave him a look that could have thrown spears and he backed away and went out from among the crowd. My purse was opened and had I not looked when I heard the Lord speak in my ear, I would have been robbed. I did not know at first that it was the voice of the Lord speaking to me guiding and protecting me.

On another occasion, my husband picked me up from work and we stopped at a grocery store before going home. My husband and I came out of the store and he proceeded to put the grocery in the van, and I went on to sit down. While putting on my seatbelt, I began to hear in my ear, "You know you should look back before you close the door". Well I reasoned with what I heard, my thoughts were, he's not near me so I reached out and grabbed the door to close it without looking back and when I did, my husband screamed out and I heard the sound of the door as it hit his hand and that scream just went all through me and I felt so bad, I felt so awful. I had just heard the voice in my ear telling me to look back and I didn't think it was anything to it so I didn't look back and because I failed to look back, I hurt my husband.

There is yet another account, I had just had my 3rd child in the month of October of 1983 and now it was approaching the thanksgiving holiday and I wanted my hair done to look nice when we'd go home to be with family for dinner. My personal beautician was out of town and was not coming back until after the holiday, so I couldn’t wait and I decided to find someone else. I went to a place in the mall, a place I had never been before. It was very crowded and it took hours before anyone had gotten to me and when they did, they only washed my hair and sat me back in a chair and there I was waiting again. Then I began to hear in my ear, "You need to get out of here", it was really impressing on me to leave, to get out of there and I reasoned in my mind but my hair is wet and dripping, people in the mall will look at me.

Finally the lady came and applied my perm and immediately after she was done, I knew something was wrong. I touched my hair and when I looked at my hand it was covered with hair. Every time I stroked my hair or combed it, hair came out in clonks. Before the week was out, I went from healthy long shoulder length hair to a head of hair you could barely pinch. Then it finally dawned on me the Lord had been trying to talk with me and warn me. The Lord was teaching me how to hear and recognize his voice. It pays to be obedient. When we obey him we get blessings and protection and when we disobey, we, and those around us suffer for it. God is good and he doeth good, and we have to learn how to trust him, he knows what he’s doing. I believe all people hear him all the time. We just have to take the time to stop and listen and weigh the voices we hear in our mind and inner man and you will see that he's been speaking to you all the time.
