Fear as the rising of hope's last limit
Finds me through the passage between births -
We are bound to God's design in ordinary ways,
Descending to darkness' ultimate fate, save
For one untold resurrection on the last day.
... scores of our body succumbing to dusk...
Calm as day, reticent as the surface
Of light, I level the design for glorious play,
And think not of shadows in idleness,
Or cruel thoughts provoked by adversity.
Yet darkness has not in vain enshroud'd me -
God alone has fashioned out of myriad
Dusts miracles that retrace all our fear
From steps of hope and life's frugal limits.
