Old people may think about it, especially if their health isn’t very good and they get scared at the thought of dying. They may pretend it will never happen. Those who are in between keep so busy that they have no time to think about it. They want to get as much out of life as they can before their health begins to fall apart.

It almost sounds as though we might have a choice but no one, but no one can decide that except God. Death has no respect for any age. It attacks even before a baby is born. It may have complications in the mother’s womb and never make it through the birth canal. The mother may decide she doesn’t want the baby after all. She allows a mere person to play God before it even has a chance. But once in awhile you hear of a miracle where the baby does survive. God still has a hand in it.

Death lurks around the corner every where you go. Men, women and children may have their life ended by a drive by shooting. A fast automobile is often an instrument of man slaughter whether planned or not. The driver may lose control and ram into the side of a house, killing anyone in the way. An innocent child may be caught in the cross fire of a gang battle.

So, I’m being morbid. Face it, death is a fact of life. It is the ending of one kind of life and the beginning of another. This is where you do have a choice of which life you prefer to live after death is defeated. Study I Corinthians15:54-55 “So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your sting? O grave where is your victory?”

I Corinthians 15:3 & 4 “For I delivered unto you first of all that which
I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures This is the very basis on which salvation stands on. We can not add or take from it. Verses 4-7 tells who all saw him after he arose from the dead. These are the people who saw him first hand and heard the gospel from his own mouth.

In verse 8 Paul says: And last of all he was seen of me also, as one born out of due time. For I am the least of the apostles that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.” What is an apostle? Strong Concordance says: “ a person sent out on a special mission.; ambassador of the Gospel.

Webster’s dictionary says: “an early leader of a new principle or movement, especially one aimed at reform.” Both are accurate. I read Hebrews 3:1 “Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the APOSTLE and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus.” That statement was awesome. I read it before but I didn’t take in the real meaning.

Jesus was the very first Apostle. He was sent out on a special mission by his Father. He is the ultimate Ambassador of the Bible. He is also the LEADER of a new movement aimed at reform. With this new idea, he literally upset their apple cart as in Mark 11:15-17: “And they came into Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money changers, and the seats of them that sold doves; and would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple. And he taught, saying unto them, “Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? But you have made it a den of thieves.” This precept is entirely different then the “religious” program made up by faulty man. It glorified man rather than God. Matthew 6:24: “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate eh one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You can not serve God and mammon.” Mammon means wealth (personified-money) and avarice (deified greed). If they didn’t like a rule, they changed it to suit themselves. It is no different than today’s agenda.

Jesus made them very angry. They were angry enough to plot to kill him. Satan put this thought in their heads to do this. But this was only because God allowed it. The devil isn’t near as smart as he thinks he is. When Satan gets a man to fall, God uses this to fulfill his purpose. II Peter 3:8 & 9: But beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any shall perish, but that all should come to repentance.”

God doesn’t want it to be that way but it is what some men prefer; not understanding the consequences when he does do it his own way. Some know the truth but will not confess it. Their fear of what others may think is stronger than their desire to be in heaven with Jesus. Remember, whatever you decide is forever.

Easter season is especially the time to remember the glorious story of Christ’s resurrection and what it all means to you. I pray you don’t neglect it. God bless you as you think about this.
