Black and gray and dreary
that’s how I’d describe my life.
As I traveled bound and weary,
Through the darkness of the night.
Full of sorrow, hurt, and pain.
Void of any passion or fight.
Wishing only to be slain,
Freed from the darkness of my plight.
Tired of being kicked around;
Sick of crying every night.
No longer hoping to be found
No sense longing for a light
Nothing left to hold on to.
Crying desperately for just “all right.”
Never would have hoped for You
Disrupting darkness with Your light.
On my knees I fall to pray,
Giving up my shambled life.
By Your grace I’ve found the way
From the darkness to the Light.
