She was a Hot-Diggedy-Dogger with a Psychotic Idiot for a husband. At least that’s what she said about him. And I had no reason to doubt her. She was in a position to know.
I found it rather miraculous that the Lord stepped into her small town to capture the Diggedy Gurl’s heart. She wasn’t a typical, ordinary “girl,” but a gritty gurl – a gurl sold out to God and His Truth.
I wondered….how long can a Psychotic Idiot last in the presence of the Diggedy Gurl’s transformed mind, anyway? But then again, I reasoned, I guess she’s not so sure her mind is transformed.
Not yet.
The truth is, it is being transformed though, transformed into His likeness. (see II Co. 3:18)
She will begin to mirror God’s own glory. Glory that is Light in the midst of darkness. Glory that is Truth in the midst of fear. The Psychotic Idiot cannot help but change in the presence of such glory, because his own walls won’t be able to protect him. Even the hidden and protected identity of a Psychotic Idiot must be exposed when surrounded by Light and Truth!
Maybe the Psychotic Idiot really is wearing a mask, I muse. Maybe he has walls that need to come tumbling down. The Wrecking Ball is at work in Diggedy’s life – why not his? Why wouldn’t he be influenced by Diggedy’s new position IN CHRIST? After all, she stands right in front of him every day. Surely he will notice her…transformation.
Does Diggedy think her mind is being transformed? Does it matter what she thinks? Will it happen no matter what? Or….is her obedience the ticket?
I don’t know all the answers. But I do know that the Diggedy Gurl owns the power to impact the Psychotic Idiot - more than she knows.

-Very thought provoking Beth. Not the quick-fix marriage how-to and every-thing-will-work-out story, but an honest wrestling-with-the-situation perspective - I like it!
