There were times when I
Wish I hadn't done things.
But there were lessons to be learned
And mistakes had to been made.

What kind of person would I be
If I had missed them?
I hate to say it but
I'd probably been worse.

What kind of life would I have lived
If I had done right?
Well, I wouldn't learn these lessons
That I learned.

Where would I be if I had
Never left your side, Lord?
I might never would have
Found you like I did.

I feel you have a GREAT message and start off well. The first stanza captured my attention (but I think there's a typographical error in line four). But then, I get a little lost. What is the rhyme (i.e. abbaabbacdcdc, etc.)? I look forward to seeing how your work develops over the next few months. Keep posting and best wishes.
