"Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me."--John 15:4
"Go back to what" you ask. Well, to put it bluntly and without reservation, to go back is to place yourself exactly where you have been your entire life prior to the point of Salvation. Think about it. As an American nation, as an overall society, have we not elected to settle for some ridiculous form of mediocrity, of complacency, of some insane attitude of "as long as it doesn't affect me" mentality? In secular society, perhaps that will work. Perhaps not. It all comes down to your own make up. You are who you are. In each of us exists a “true" inner being that is the essence and actuality of who God designed you to be. The fact of the matter is that God did NOT design us to be mediocre, nor complacent, not in His world anyway. If you want to be second best or you want to give it a half hearted effort, so be it. But, in THIS world, in this realm, in God's Kingdom, liaise faire is no longer good enough. At the end of the day it boils down to a simple question. It is no longer who you are, but rather it is now "whose" you are. You are His now. You are not your own anymore. Therefore to go back is out of the question. Thus, I ask you at this very moment. Whose are you?
How you answer this question is key to whether or not you will elect, moving forward, to accept a mediocre or complacent walk. This question, in addition to "Is He Lord", should make you quiver with fear in how you anticipate you may answer for yourself. Think about it! Christ was and is perfection. If you are His, it means he owns you, he owns your heart, your mind, your soul, your Spirit. To accept complacency or any other sort of self service is against His will for that person He designed you to be. Do you feel as if He owns you? If not, then you have not yet crossed that threshold yet of understanding whose you are. Thus, you are still owned by self. What is self? Self is ego. Ego is the key element of sin. Therefore, anything outside the will of God is ego. You see, God's obvious will is for you to NOT sin. It is a circular relationship. Therefore, whose you are can only be answered one of two ways. You are either owned by yourself or you are owned by our Lord. What's it going to be? Is He Lord or is He not? My friends, if this is your question, then you have just entered into the Eternal Storm!
