F.O.R.G.I.V.E.N.E.S.S. S.T.E.P.

Figure out exactly what is hurting. -Psalm 139:38,39

Observe and understand in light of the cross. –Luke 23:34

Resolve to forgive by Christ’s power within you. –Matthew 9:6

Give God permission to control all emotional change. -Matthew 6:12-15

Identify new positive ways to look at situation. -Romans 8:28

Verify in your own heart that God will take care of it. –Ezekiel 16:62,63

Erase what is owed to you as you release responsibility. -Matthew 18:27

Never return to old perspective despite feelings. -1 John 2:12

Eliminate grudges and forgive as you pray. -Mark 11:25

Specifically communicate any appropriate message. –James 5:20

Saturate yourself in the truth of God’s mercy. -Titus 3:4,5


Stop the sting by trusting God to comfort all involved. -2 Corinthians 1:3,4

Take responsibility for your fault, blame or part. -1 John 1:9

Expect no perfection from yourself and others. –John 1:7

Praise God for His victory over sin. -Romans 4:7,8

If you, O LORD, kept a record of sins,
O Lord, who could stand? But with you
there is forgiveness; therefore you are
feared. I wait for the LORD, my soul
waits, and in his word I put my hope. 
Psalms 130:3-5

Remember not the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; adding to your love remember me, for you are good, O Lord. Psalms 25:7

"Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. Isaiah 1:18

I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more. Isaiah 43:25

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Psalms 51:10-12

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36

When we were overwhelmed by sins, you forgave our transgressions. Psalms 65:3

Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Isaiah 55:6
