Why would an intelligent person as yourself spend all your time and money on improving every area of your life but the one area that is most importantóYOU?
You strive to get an education, work hard for a better home with nicer things, and to give your family a better life. You may read books and magazines on how to improve your cooking, relationships, and career. You take pride in hospitality and your childrenís manners and grades. You choose carefully your outfits and makeup and may also get your hair and nails done.
Youíre probably thinking, ďBut I do all these things to take care of ME also!Ē This is partly true but are you really content deep down even after doing all these things? Does the bigger house, nicer furniture, latest hairstyle, and fashion really make you fulfilled? Or do you still find yourself wanting more or needing to improve another area? ďIf only my house had a den. If only my kids were better behaved. If only my husband would spend more time with me. If only I had more money. If only I didnít ache so much. If only I had more energy.Ē Do those ďif onlyísĒ run through your mind?
If so, then you must focus on the one area that truly needs improving and this is the area of YOU. The inner YOU. All the money, material things, and prayer and wishing will not fix you . All the power, prestige, and hard work that this planet has to offer will not heal whatís truly bothering you. This is why many people who seem to be on top of the world plunder to the bottom. All their attempts external and they have not reached complete inner balance and contentment. This is why the things that most people try leave true healing and balance out of reach. There still an area or more in their lives that they just canít control. Yes, we are human but we were given natural abilities to strive for balance and control in all our areas. We just donít tap into all the natural resources.
What does improving ME mean, you may wonder. Improving you means working on the internal areas along with the external areas to bring balance to your mind, body, and spirit. The internal areas include, but are not limited to, the deep root causes that led to being imbalanced such as being overweight, having hormone imbalances, blood sugar problems, headaches, anxiety and panic disorders, low self esteem, perfectionism, overachievement, guilt, materialism, and the list continues on. If there is an imbalance in your life you may have developed bad habits such as eating poorly, smoking, alcohol abuse, unhealthy relationships, and so on. You canít just work on the external and neglect the internal. You canít just work on the body and neglect the mind and spirit and vice versa. Just working out and eating right is not going to do it. Attending church services, praying, and getting more education and neglecting other areas is not going to do it. There must be complete balance of mind, body, and spirit.
Women are natural-born nurturers. It is our tendency to take care of everyone and everything else. This natural tendency plus the hectic lifestyle that we live causes us to put ourselves last on the priority list. You can see this in your racing mind when you try to fall asleep. Your mind has been overworking all day and it canít seem to stop. To keep our bodies healthy, we have to move. To keep our minds healthy, we have to give it a rest. We have it backwards in this world.
Although our world is experiencing the most prosperous times ever with more modern technological and medical advances, our mental, physical, and spiritual health is facing a rapid and dangerous decline. The medical field has advanced beyond imagination but because it focuses on treating results without focusing on the root problems. More medication means more side effects without targeting what is actually causing the symptoms.
The world of information is vast and unbelievably expansive but there is so much false and incorrect information out there. Plus itís hard to know what to believe and what will work for you.
Technology is out of control and we have just about every gadget to help us do things faster, better, more wisely, and with more convenience. But technological advances have led to more stress and anxiety, more radiation and cancer. Cancer used to be rare but now it is the second leading killer of Americans! Our world has grown to good for its britches.
Following are some staggering facts and statistics that we are experiencing even in times of unbelievable technology, medicines, information, prosperity, and growth than ever before:
Obesity, although highly preventable and the leading cause of most diseases and health issues, remains largely ignored as a disease. This new ignored disease is affecting countries around the world. America has one of the highest rates. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, over 55% of Americans are obese and obesity rates in teens have doubled. 61% of Americans are overweight.
Samoans have the highest percentage of obesity in the world at 75%. Canada has the third largest incidence of childhood obesity. Even China, with the lowest rate in the world, is seeing a dramatic increase with 2% of men and 6% of women being obese.
What does this have to do with you, you ask? Well, think about this. Obesity and even being slightly overweight can play havoc with your bodyís systems. The small issues from low self esteem, guilt after ďcheatingĒ, or being frustrated with how you clothes fit can slowly and indirectly lead to bigger problems such as depression, anger, eating disorders, yo-yo diets and trying every fad that comes along, etc.
Obesity is a major risk factor for diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke, degenerative arthritis, impotency, and varicose just to name a few. The main causes of obesity are sedentary lifestyles and high-fat, calorie-dense diets. We are overfed but undernourished, which means too many calories and not enough vitamins and minerals for our bodyís systems to function properly. These risk factors, just to name a small fraction, an be controlled: high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, smoking, alcohol abuse, obesity, diabetes, stress, risks that lead to fibromyalgia, ADD, ADHD, Syndrome X, and all these new diseases and labels that didnít exist before.
Okay, so much for all the boring statistics. What does this mean to YOU? Well, there is a way to treat your symptoms and balance out your life where you will see and feel results for a LIFETIME. My life experiences and obstacles is lifelong training and a living testimony to prove to you that there is a better way that will allow you to bring balance to your world. Itís a plan that you can stick with for the rest of your life. Itís not what you do for a few weeks, a few months, or even for a few years. If youíve worked to get yourself to where you want to be but eventually fall back then what have you gained? Itís what you do for a LIFETIME.
