If He had not been there
I would have been so lost
So full of fear
So full of doubt, engrossed
In anxious moments
Life’s many torments
If He had not been there
Would I be so serene
Eager to help those distressed,
Souls who have never been
Able to pass the test
Of life’s ups and downs
With daily facial frowns
If He had not been there?
Sailing on a sea of doubt
Would have been my fate
Climbing a mountain of hopelessness
Surrounding myself with hate
No one to show the way
Not even how to pray
If He had not been there.
Love’s a blessed gift
It gives one’s heart a lift
To truly appreciate
How One who is so great
Could bestow such grace on me
Throughout my dependency
So I must shout loud for all to hear
