The Touch of the Masters Hand According to His Purpose
When bad news has hit the family, the only thing we can do is turn to the Lord, pray, and trust Him to get us through the crises. My father has been in constant pain since Christmas. Our worst nightmare came about when we found that he had kidney cancer. What good can come from having cancer? We can brood over the situation, or we can turn it into something good and give God the glory.
When we take an instance with malignancy, we can look for God to bless us with showing us His perfect plan. One of the blessings that we have seen from the sarcoma is my Dad’s acceptance of Jesus. One thing that we do know for sure is that God will cure him of the cancer. Either he will be cured of the cancer malignant cells where his body would be rid of the illness here on earth; or he will be cured when the Lord calls him home! On the other hand, God could miraculously with prayers cure him here and Heaven both. What joy will be brought to our lives!
God will give my Dad the grace to get through each day. God’s grace is sufficient for him! God grace is not just adequate for my Dad but it is satisfactory for my Mom and us children! “But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Cor.12:9-10 (ESV)
We the family, could take this time and grow closer together or we can let this split the family. I know that during the next few months our faith and persistence will be tried repeatedly. We can set our eyes upon Christ so that we will not stumble or we not have faith in Christ and we will stumble and fall. Psalm119:165 (ESV) “Great peace have those who love your law; nothing can make them stumble.”
Dealing with cancer has been something that the Lord has brought into my life more then a little over the last year. I watched my father- in-law go down hill in two months time, where he went home to the Lord. We did not see it coming yet the Lord worked in our family where we had peace when it came time for my father- in-law to depart. Christ showed my father-in-law His love so abundantly. Dad knew when his time got short he would not have to deal with the tumor anymore and now he has been set free.
My Dad will see the touch of the Master’s hand too. Christ will walk beside my Dad. He will see how much Christ loves him. Christ has set my Dad free form his sins. He went to the cross for him. Life will be easier for him over the next few months and years because of Christ. It was by grace my Dad was saved through Christ who redeems us.
My Dad will get through the cancer with the help of Christ. He will come to understand the true meaning of Philippians 4:13 (KJV) “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Whether he endures chemotherapy or radiation with surgery, he will be at peace with the Lord. May God bless my Dad and keep him tucked securely in His precious hand!
