I have seen pictures of plants and flowers growing from the most impossible places, and I marveled at the wonderful design God put into each one of them,
that no matter what their circumstance, where that little seed landed on the ground, that plant was going to bloom no matter what.
So we see them struggling through the cracks in the sidewalk, from rocks on a mountainside, tucked in a dune on a windswept beach - God planted the will into each of those little flowers, and they found a way to reach the air and sun and become what they were meant to be.
I've often wondered, do they feel the sun beating down on their winter-cold earth, and somehow know it is time to start growing, to push up till the sun shines on them?
What wonderful attention to detail that God has, that each flower has its own timetable, each one blooming at exactly the right time to fill the seasons with their beauty.
So often we just walk on by, hardly noticing this little miracle at our feet - nor do we see the lesson they have to teach if only we would stop and listen.
I see each day that we have together as a wonderful gift from God - like the little flower seed, our day is just barely begun, yet my love for you just fills my heart. I feel the warmth of the Son shining on me, and know I have a little season to grow, to reach for that light, and with it firmly in hand, to write you letters telling you of my love, and how grateful I am to have you.
As the day passes on, like that little flower breaking free, and opening up its little bloom, I take each hour that I have with you and weave into a love-gift to
give to you.
Our day may turn out to be like a sidewalk, or rocks upon a hillside, but the strength of our love overcomes all the obstacles, the blooming of the flower will not be denied.
By the end of the day, when the light begins to fade, and the work of this day is finally done, there is time to sit back and see the flower this day has become, and see the beauty and smell the fragrance of our love.
Each day's flower is different, for the circumstances are too, and so each one is unique to its time - but each becomes part of the bouquet of love we give to each other with joy and love.
The wonder of our lives is that it is always the growing season, and God has planted so many seeds in my heart...that for years to come, there'll be new bouquets growing every day, with tears of joy like dew tucked inside each velvety petal.
I thank God for the flowers that remind me of our love, how it blooms and grows a little more each day, and I thank Him for the many blessings I have, and the love I'll share with you today.
