Just beyond the realm of all that is seen
Where the heavens touch the turquoise sea,
The sparkling river about Your throne
spills into the ocean's foam.
Staring into the midnight blue,
The sea, the waves, all speak of You.
Your glory bursts from its grand design,
And thoughts of You so fill my mind.
Ancient song, fill my listening ears.
Sovereign Lord, now speak - I hear.
So here I sit upon the sandy shore,
Thirsty soul, wanting more.
You draw me to Your Presence here.
I feel Your breath, I know You're near.
Emerald waters lap my feet.
Salty breeze blows warm and sweet.
Surely this is where You dwell,
Crashing waves from ocean swells.
Ancient song, fill my listening ears.
Sovereign Lord, now speak - I hear.
Empty shells scattered along the beach
Washing in, then out of reach.
Evidence of simple lives once lived,
Each appearing as the ocean mist.
Castles built with human hands
Occupy only a moment's glance.
Most of those whom Your image bear,
Continue on, completely unaware.
Wrapped up in that deemed reality-
Blinded not perceiving eternity.
Yet all You have placed within our sight,
Speak of Your power and infinite might.
Hearts that sigh and begin to search,
For the Timeless Creator of all the earth-
Who contains the waters within His hand,
All its shores, its vast expanse.
So powerfully, You draw me in,
My faithful God who calls me friend.
Ancient song, One who holds the sea -
Sovereign Lord, who speaks to me.
