Spiritual Breastfeeding

Six months ago I had my third child, it was a boy and we named him Jonathan. All through my pregnancy I had thought about breastfeeding and I was determined to do it this time. During labor I had to have a C-section because his cord was wrapped around his neck, so during the time I was asleep they gave him a bottle.

After a few hours I was awaken to a beautiful, healthy baby boy and the first thing the nurse did was put him on my right breast. At first it was painful because I didnít know how to breastfeed him. As the days went by I learned to appreciate the beauty of what God had created for a deep relationship between mother and child.

One day while feeding Jonathan God spoke to me and said, ďYou see how he responds to you, when he wakes up his head turns to you for feeding and he trust that you will be there for himĒ. This is how my people are suppose to respond to me, they are suppose to have child like faith and believe automatically that I will be there for them when the need me.

Faith is the substance that we must possess in order to please God. When we murmur and complain instead of pray and trust Him, we forfeit all the promises God made toward us if we would just believe.

If we had the power to stop the test and trials that come in our lives, many of us would be weak Christians, because the trials come to make us strong and to prove to us who we really are.

Many of us have had some of the worst situations come in our lives unexpectedly from death, abuse, divorce, to rebellious children, and at that time we thought we could not make it through, but here we are on the other side and now we have a testimony to share with others.

God has been called the Multi-Breasted One; because we know that breast is a sense of security for a child. When that child wants to be fed they open their mouth and turn to the breast without thought. A child believes that his/her mother will fulfill the immediate need.

There are many benefits to being breastfed, it protects the childís immune system, helps the mother lose weight, helps her heal faster and the more frequently the child breastfeeds the more milk supply the mother has.

God does the same for us when we totally depend on him. He protects our spirit from corruption, he helps us lose the weight of this world through prayer, he helps us heal faster when we cast our cares on him, and the more frequently we depend on him the more faith we will have.

Breastfeeding allows a child to learn his/her environment, lying between the breast of the mother skin to skin the baby can hear the heartbeat, they are warmed by the motherís body heat and they learn to respond to new, and unfamiliar voices.

When we depend on God it teaches us how to live in his world, we learn to love what he loves and hate what he hates, we have the heartbeat of God. We learn how to hear his voice and a stranger we will not follow.

Depending on God and having the faith that he has given to each of us according to his own measure, will stabilize us, strengthen us, increase our awareness, enhance our walk, help us to get to know God and have confidence in him, just like a child to his mother.

When we a faced with situations we have a choice to believe God or to trust in our own abilities. We donít know how much we can bear until all our means are exhausted and all we have is faith.

In order to achieve the greatest benefits of having faith in God we must learn how to keep in fellowship with him. God has so much for us, he is full of purpose and destiny for each of his children, but we canít obtain it without faith.

A child is fed on cue: awake, moving around, hand to mouth. God feeds us when we seek him: by prayer, fasting, worship and he responds to our faith in Him, we must believe God for the impossible.

There are no time restrictions for a child on a breast, but his average time is 15 minutes. God doesnít put time restrictions on us we can feed from him as long as we like, as much as we can believe the more he will feed.

While breastfeeding mothers should not give a child formula, water or pacifiers because it may cause the baby to lose interest in breastfeeding. As so with God if we allow our lives to be filled with a mixture of things: other peopleís opinion, doubt, negativity, improper talk or behavior, murmur or complaining then we too will lose interest and our focus and not believe God.

If God has made you a promise, no matter how much time has passed, he will fulfill what he said. Like a child that trust his mother as his source of life, trust God as yours. Have FAITH, donít doubt and watch God do the impossible.
