I’ve come across an article on FaithWriters.com by J.R. Augustine called “Reflecting God’s Glory”. He only has the one article but it is beautiful. Through it and Matthew 28:1-10 the Lord is encouraging me to just write and not only concentrate on the novel He called me from my busy life to do. He is encouraging me to be free in my writing to entertain yes but also to encourage believers.
In Matthew 28 the Father had the angel give the command to the women at the graveside of Jesus that they should go & tell his disciples that He is risen. These followers of Jesus were sent to other followers of Jesus with the message from God.
The Father called me to write a novel. Well I wrote it and then before I could find a publisher the Lord asked me to go and work for a Christian non-profit company. What! Why? I thought He called me to write full time. Besides I was just getting used to eating “manna’ from heaven and living by faith. However, I obeyed and here I am working at this 40-hour a week job which any writer and artist can sympathize might not help my creative juices to flow. But of course the Father knows best and in this job God is using me and blessing me in amazing ways. I am seeing His Light reflecting off of me and shining into the lives of those around me. I am finding that some people working in this Christian ministry who I would think were born again are in great darkness. They are hungry for light, hungry to see some hope for their lives, some joy and some peace.
J.R. writes in his article that God spoke to him and said: “This week you won’t try to blind them with the whole truth at once. You will gradually help their eyes of faith become accustomed to the intense light of truth that is on the horizon.”
So even though at times I get impatient with these Christians, I realize that part of my reason for working with them is to reflect the Light of the Son, even on these Chosen Ones. Just as God told the women to go and tell the other believers, so God is telling me to go and shine.
