Our Room

I was thinking this morning of building a room, and how each piece plays its own part, and how like it is to nurturing our love, right from the very start.

Each room starts with a firm foundation, even though it's unseen, it is there, and it is the most important of all, so it is built with special care.

The room of our love has that firm foundation, it is Jesus who leads the way, and on this we can build with confidence and joy, knowing He holds us up every day.

On top of the foundation comes the floor and walls, and its shape we begin to see, as each piece is precisely laid out, the foundation dictating how it will be.

Our room has a floor and walls so straight, we can tell it will stand the test of time, for the floor is God's word and the walls are made of prayers softly said, the strength of yours added to mine.

Between the studs is put insulation to keep out the cold, a ceiling of rafters overhead is found, and now the room has a completed frame, sturdy, safe and sound.

Our room too, has insulation - filling the walls with love and care, and overhead is a ceiling of peace and grace - a room of joy we both can share.

Windows are added to let in the light, and doors to go out and come in, letting others see from the outside, the loveliness built within.

Our room has windows flooded with God's light, not shining out, but glowing
from within, and the door is open, welcoming us home - one we won't want
to ever leave again.

Wallpaper and paint cover the walls, the carpet blankets the floor, all the outside sees is this, but the builder knows it is much more.

Our room is like that, fresh and new every day, but we know the joys that are
unseen, the hidden structure that gives us our life, the One on whom we lean.

Our room is love and in it we live, sharing and learning to grow, for all we
want or ever hope to have is right here for us to know.

We just have to look beyond the outside to see the treasure that every day is new - the love that I have, the gift I've been given, all are wrapped up in the one I love - you
