Encouragement
Robin told, “When you give what you have, you will get what you need for your lifetime. I am a testimony for this statement.”
“Is it so? What do you mean? I just don’t understand” He gave me the following account: “A wonderful job with unimaginable perks waited in a foreign land for a young beautiful girl holding a highest degree in that particular subject. She waged a war inside her heart and it raged for nearly a month. Her desire was to fly to that foreign land and family circumstances did support by supplying the necessary wings. On the other hand, an alliance had come up for her from a person who happened to be a servant of God. She had had to make a crucial choice between two conflicting matters – spiritual or secular. One should understand that spiritual and secular realms could not be viewed as two different entities. The luxuries, pleasures and material comforts of that unknown land did boost her but finally she pulled down all the castles that came alive in the air arousing a lure within her. She sacrificed a secular thought and settled holding on to the Shepherd who says, "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you’ by getting married to a servant of God and that’s ‘me.’ My wife placed first priority to the kingdom of God and therefore everything of the secular realm followed her faithfully. When our first child was born after six years God supplied all his needs through a friend of mine who had been to that same land. For nearly two years my son was treated with all the delicacies of the foreign land were my wife had been dreaming to go. Both my wife and I are blessed with comforts beyond our imagination.”
I snapped, “Your statement is true. It reminds me of the fact that the widow in Zarephth when she prepared the first cake from the last flour and gave it to the servant of God, she had food to sustain her until everything became normal.”
We shook hands and bid adieu. Once again I heard my heart echo, “When you give what you have first to the kingdom of God then you will get what you need for your lifetime.”
