6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:6-7

Be Not Anxious About Anything

Worry is the interest you pay on trouble before you get it. Why would anyone want to pay interest, you may ask? But we do it many times. Worry, they say, is like a rocking chair. It takes you no where but gives you something to do. In fact in real life when we worry, there is a tendency to stagnate or even retrogress.

This is why the word of God, or better still, this is why God says, ‘Don’t worry about anything’. Life is full of the unexpected. Things do not always happen according to our plans.
We do not know what tomorrow may bring regardless of how well we plan. We worry about our jobs, our finances, our children, our calling, our spouses and all sorts. But God says, ‘Don’t worry about anything.’ Just commit them to me in prayer. I can take care of it. Worry does not solve any problem. It makes it worse. It makes us fall it, make the wrong decision and multiplies our sorrows and robs us of our testimony.
Uncertainty is the certainty of life. This is a fact of life. There is nothing we can do about it.

So we need to settle it in our minds what do I do when things don’t turn out as planned? What do I do about this current retrenchment going on in my company? What do I do about this child that is following a bad company? What do I do about my career that seems to be going no where? What do I do about my ministry that is in abeyance?

You and I can pray. God is only a prayer away. We can take comfort in the fact that we have a God who has the whole world in his palm; One who know and hold s the future; One Who loves us with an everlasting, unfailing love; One Who has great plans for us.
When you do not have Christ resident on the inside of you, the natural thing to do is to panic, run helter skelter, look for whom to blame and when you cannot find who to blame you blame your self. The blame game does not help. It does not work, so don’t play it.

If you are a child of God, the wise thing to do is to go to your Shepherd- the Good Shepherd and unburden your soul to Him. He knows everything. He cares for you. He has a promised land for you flowing with milk and honey. He said, 'if you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best of the land.' Share your worries with Him. A problem shared s a problem halved. This is why He says in Everything by prayer..
Notice: It did not say, ’in every big thing ‘, but, ‘in everything’. If it is serious enough to bother you, take it to Him in prayer. Call on Him on His ‘mobile number; Jeremiah33:3 Call upon me in the day of trouble and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you know not yet of.. ‘he shall call upon me and I will answer him.’ I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation. I watch over my word to perform it. Heaven and earth shall pass away but my word shall not pass away. God is our refuge and our strength. Our ever and very present help in trouble. ‘Great peace have they that love his law’. I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord Who made the heavens and the earth. He will not allow my feet to be moved he who keeps me neither slumbers nor sleeps. The Lord is my keeper. He is my shade my protection on the right and left, my shade in the heat of life. He watches over me He preserves my life. He watches over my going out and coming in from this time forth and forever.
I dwell in the shelter of the most high there I shall fear no evil. God is for me and no one can be against me. God has a good plan for me and I refuse to worry what tomorrow will bring. The Lord and I can handle it when it comes. I choose to fix my eyes, not on the storms of life but on Jesus the Author and Finisher of my faith. God said, 'eye has not seen, ear has not heard neither has it entered the heart of man, what God has prepared for those who love Him.' I cast all my cares on Him because he cares for me.

Therefore, friend, refuse to worry. Doubt your doubts and believe your beliefs. God is working everything together for your good.

Why worry when you can pray?
Why worry only to be sorry?
Why worry and lead your mind stray?
Why worry when you know the way?

Why worry and get a headache?
Why worry to shoot up your pressure?
Why worry when you’re God’s treasure?
Why worry when you can pray to make and unmake?

Why worry when God is on your side?
Why worry to let loose the evil tide?
Why worry when you have the Spirit inside?
Don’t worry, no matter what may betide.

By Prayer and Petition
‘By petition’
Do you have friends you can ask to pray with you or for you? That is the petition Paul is talking about. Some Churches have standby intercessors that you can ring to agree with you in prayer on issues in your life. You can also receive godly counsel. Some Christian radio stations also have this type of service. In this day of information super highway, it is possible to connect with email buddies to pray with you. We need each other and nee to pray for one another.

However above all, God, you Father would like to hear from you. Make Him the first port of call. It is good to pray with others or call others to pray for you. But God would not want you to make them Prayer Contractors. He wants you to grow in your prayer life and more so to grow in your intimacy with Him.

‘With thanksgiving’
Conclude your prayer giving thanks to the Lord for hearing your prayers. Thank Him for His faithfulness, goodness, kindness, love, integrity, sovereignty, grace, care, power, His good plans for you. Thank Him for Jesus, Who is praying for you at the at Father’s right hand, as you r Advocate. Thank Him for the Holy Spirit, your Helper and Comforter, Teacher and Standby. Thank Him for His wonderful, powerful, dynamic, unchanging word and dependable Word.

And when you do, God has promised you His boundless peace; peace like a river, great peace, peace that will blow your mind, peace that the world cannot give, cannot understand and cannot take. However this peace only comes when you have entrusted everything into His Hands. That peace will rise up within you to ward off any intruders, invaders, rioters, peace stealers and rest robbers. That peace will give you a godly perspective; enable you to see through the eyes of God. It will enable you to see sunshine and the silver lining beyond the cloud and the current storm and give you a smile or even a raucous laughter when others around you think you should be crying

Stand to see your salvation. Wait on the Lord. Trust in the Lord and you will not be put to shame.

Let Us Pray:

Father, I thank You foir Your Sure Word of prophecy, Your infallible word that is Spirit and life.
I cast all my Care on You because You care for me. I banish fear, anxiety and worry fromn my life. I believe and conferss that God is for me and no one can be against me. The Good and Great Shepherd is working on my behalf and I will not lack any good thing. God is putting all I need in plece becaise of His faithfulness. I have full confidence in the goodness of the Lord to make good His promises to me. He is mot a man that He should lie, neither the Son of MAn that He should repent. Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me, all the days of my life.

I thank you Lord for Your love, provision, protection, compassion, faithfulness, goodness and mercies that endure foreve, amen.
