Wobbly, wee ones wanting to wander
Not wondering why wondering's one's wish.
Smelly, worn sneakers, so seldom are slowing
From soccer to "hide and go fish"!
Summery sandals slip on feet so eas'ly
So soon slip back off when you sit.
Fuzzy lined furries feel fun when it's freezing
For feet find frost flees when fuzz fits!
Stately stilettos still step in staccato
As fairytales fly in night skies.
Shiny and shapely, some shimmer in sunshine
As back to the office they stride.
Practical, purposeful, pretending all past
Some feel no pride, just prepared.
Shuffling, shaky ones - lead on by walkers
Come slowly their stories to share.
But the best ones of all are no shoes at all!
Bare toes buried deep in the sand-
Or bending big blades of grass under your feet-
Temptations no age can withstand!
